LIGHTS to headline Canada Day New York

Award-winning electro-rock sensation LIGHTS will join Canadian music legends Spirit of the West and Joel Plaskett on the main stage at Rumsey Playfield during a free concert produced by Canada Day International as part of the SummerStage Performing Arts Festival presented by AT&T.

When electro-rock sensation Lights first hit the music scene in 2008, she was just a songwriter with a synth and a dream. The following year, she won the JUNO Award (Canada’s Grammy) for Best New Artist, on the strength of her debut EP alone.

In 2009, LIGHTS released her first album, The Listening, which led to Lights Poxleitner winning the Juno Award for “New Artist of the Year.” LIGHTS’ latest album, Siberia Acoustic, features reworked acoustic versions of songs of her 2011 studio album, Siberia. In 2012, the album was nominated for a Juno Award in the “Pop Album of the Year” category. Although LIGHTS normally makes electronic pop that often features electric guitars, keyboards, and dance-influenced beats, she is at her core a melodic singer/songwriter.

Lights will be joined by her full band for SummerStage.
