Canada’s 146th birthday could not be celebrated without its national pastime. The James R Wright road hockey tournament is back again with eight teams competing for the Trafalgar Cup. The festival will also feature a lululemon yoga class, face painting for the kids, appearances by Royal Canadian Mounted Police and much more.
While music lies at the heart of Canada Day, the inaugural Taste of Canada Culinary program will be launched this year with an online recipe contest, appearances by some of Canada’s top chefs showcasing their craft and on-trend food stalls offering visitors a taste of Canadian cuisine. Online contests give the public a chance to submit their best Canadiana-inspired recipes to win exceptional prizes. There are also some very special plans to interact with the crowds of adventurous foodies, music lovers, and hockey fans from all over that come to unite and celebrate in true Canadian style.
Come meet the Mounties. Chase the puck. Parlez francais the Canadian way over a plate of poutine. From morning pancakes with maple syrup to late night dance beats, the celebration brings Canada to life all day and in every which way for the public to enjoy.
